When you are planning your wedding, it can be hard to find the perfect venue that matches your style. It feels like a lot of venues want to commit to a look that simply does not translate well for your day. If you are looking for a total blank slate, I would love to tell you why I think an Upstairs Atlanta wedding might just be your best option! As an Atlanta wedding photographer, I get the chance to tour venues all across the city. Here’s why I adore this one!
About The Upstairs Atlanta Wedding Venue
750 Glenwood Ave, SE, Bldg 100, Atlanta, Georgia 30316
Upstairs Atlanta is a gem of a wedding venue unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Once a blacksmith building, this historic space gives you both something old and something new for your wedding. The space was originally built in 1895 as a part of the Atlanta Stockade. While it’s been completely renovated, the owners took great care to preserve all the original charm. The result? A breathtaking venue ready to help you have a day completely unique to you.
Details of the Grounds
Upstairs Atlanta feels like a canvas ready to tell the story of your love through your wedding. The exterior of the building is white with industrial brick, arched windows, and a black gabled roof. Inside, the rooms are painted in the same bright white with high industrial ceilings, black statement lights, and white floors. No matter what style you have in mind for your wedding, this building will make it a reality!
Your day will start out in one of the two get-ready suites, where you’ll have plenty of space to get ready alongside your wedding party.
For your ceremony, you will have both indoor and outdoor options. If you want to beat the Georgia heat, you can exchange your vows in the Reception Room, where you will have 2,300 square feet to comfortably seat up to 200 guests. For those who would prefer an outdoor wedding, you can use the Lower Courtyard, which has a paved patio for your vows.
The venue offers a covered space just outside the Reception Room where you can host a sophisticated cocktail hour. If you would prefer an indoor cocktail hour, the Upstairs Lounge is your spot!
Then comes the reception. While you are more than welcome to host this outside, the Reception Room tends to be the location of choice. You will have plenty of room to dance around and celebrate with your guests!
Photography Opportunities
With blank white walls and plenty of natural lighting, the Upstairs Atlanta was practically built for wedding portraits! The elegant rooms and velvet furniture will be perfect for individual pics. Meanwhile, the exterior tends to be the best spot for group and couple portraits.
