About The Georgian Hall Wedding Venue

The Georgian Hall wedding venue resides inside the historic Georgian building. The ballroom has been a prominent special events venue in Athens for over 100 years. This venue fits perfectly into the eclectic vibe of this historic town but also reflects the Southern hospitality and charm that the state of Georgia is known for. Moreover, this venue allows couples to create a unique, unforgettable wedding experience.
Georgian Hall came about in 1908 and originally operated as Hotel Georgian in the early 1900s. It was the region’s first luxury hotel and was hailed as the “Pride of Athens” as it became a focal point for social activity in the area. It features marvelous architecture, luxurious state-of-the-art design, and the Grand Ballroom on the lobby level. In 1975, after years of decline and neglect, the Hotel Georgian closed its doors.
The building was purchased and renovated in 1984, converting the 100 hotel rooms into condominiums. In 2016, a local restaurateur restored the space and the historic ballroom with the help of local craftsmen and artists. It now operates under the name Georgian Hall and hosts celebratory events of all types.
Details of the Grounds
The Georgian Hall wedding venue features stained glass Palladian windows, restored mosaic tile floors, and statement-worthy black walnut doors. The newly-renovated ballroom retains much of its classic elegance. It hosts guests from all over the country, serving as a focal point in the Athens community.
Georgian Hall features three event areas and combinations. The Grand Ballroom is 2200 square feet and can host 120-180 guests. Furthermore, The Lounge is 1800 square feet and can host 60-120 guests. Couples can rent The Grand Ballroom and Lounge together for 4000 square feet of event space and the ability to host 150-250 guests. These spaces feature white columns, elegant chandeliers, large wood doors, tile floors, hardwood floors, comfortable seating, and large windows to let in natural light.

The Georgian Hall wedding venue features delicious food from the award-winning adjacent restaurant, South Kitchen and Bar, and locally brewed craft beers, making a truly remarkable Athens culinary experience for couples and their guests. Additionally, the team updates the menus seasonally and customizes them to suit couples’ preferences.
Couples can rent a getaway car as a fun way to say farewell to their guests. This classic-style 1948 Chevy Fleetline Sedan includes a chauffeur to whisk couples away and drop them off at the location of their choice.
